All Alone

I’m sitting at my desk looking out of the window at a mountain range covered in snow!

Where am I?

Vancouver Canada…

I’ve got some meetings this weekend…

Then next I’m off to San Francisco for a trip to Silicon Valley which should be fun…

My plane landed late Tuesday night…

I had all of Wednesday to try to get over my jetlag…

Fat chance…

Anyway I spent yesterday doing a bit of sightseeing and shopping…

Since I was in town alone I wanted to meet some people and do a bit of socialising…

I went online and searched for any meet ups on any subject that were taking place Wednesday night in Vancouver.

Out of about 10 possibilities, two really stood out..

  1. Vancouver YouTube Creators
  2. Women, Leadership, and Software Development Panel

So what did I do?

I decided to attend the YouTube creators event as I’m doing a lot of marketing on YouTube right now.

So I jumped in a cab and 45 minutes later I found myself on terminal Avenue…

The cab dropped me off.

I quickly realised that I couldn’t find the building??

After walking up and down the street for 20 minutes a car pulled over next to me…

The window rolled down and a lady asked me if I was looking for the YouTube event.

She was lost too…

Eventually we found the building and we were only five minutes late…

The event was taking place in one of those shared office buildings…

As I entered the main room where the presentation was taking place..

I immediately recognised the presenter…

Steve Dotto from the YouTube channel “dottotech

I have never met Steve before but I’m a subscriber of his YouTube channel.

Steve gave a great presentation detailing the most effective way to format your videos when creating a YouTube channel.

I learnt some great new strategies at this event…

I think what I’ll do is create a YouTube video detailing what I learnt…

Once I get back home I’ll create a video and upload it to my YouTube channel…

There seem to be three categories of people at this event,

  1. The full-time YouTube’s, these were people who are very successful and make a full-time living from their YouTube channel.
  2. The marketers, either Internet marketers, or people who ran marketing for other companies.
  3. Complete beginners who were thinking about starting a new YouTube channel…

I think it so cool that I can be thousands of miles away from home…

Alone in a strange city…

And I can always find interesting people to network and socialise with…
