How Do You Eat An Elephant

It’s overheating!!

I find it embarrassing…

Sometimes I don’t know what to say….

and I don’t want to tell them….

This is how I feel when people ask what I do for a living…

This is especially true at…

    – Dinner parties
    – Events
    – Family gatherings

I’ve always felt the odd one out…

Why?

When people hear what I do for a living they seem a bit puzzled…

After all very few people know what Internet marketing actually means…

And I guess it’s quite unusual to work from home…

Well it used to be….

As you know over the last few months most of the world has been stuck at
home…

And a great deal of people have been working from home…

Here’s the strange thing…

Productivity has gone up…

That’s right those people who normally work in offices…

Are now working from home are actually getting more work done!!

A lot of companies are now questioning why they need expensive offices in
the centre of a citys…

So working from home is going to become a lot more common…

This is coordinating with the launch of space X’s starling satellite
broadband system…

This will enable superfast broadband even in the most remote location on
planet Earth…

So this means you can be living literally anywhere in the world…

And still be doing video chats uploading large files and doing webinars
etc….

I think the doors wide open right now for loads of new businesses…

Particularly businesses that serve people who are now starting to work
from home…

An update on my vegetable garden…

This year I’ve been growing some vegetables for the first time…

It really just a test before we scale things up…

So back in March I planted out some potatoes, onions and garlic…

I planted them in some plastic containers which I had lying around in the shed….

In fact we didn’t have enough containers to plant everything…

This was during lockdown so all the garden centres were closed….

So we ended up planting the rest of our seed potatoes and onions in one of our flowerbeds…..

So far so good….

The onions seem to be getting quite large now….

And there are definitely signs of potatoes when you pull back the earth….

I think we’ll leave it another month or so before we attempt any kind of harvest…..

A few weeks ago we hired a mechanical digger and cleared a huge section in our lower field….

This is going to be where were going to set up a poly tunnel….

And also build some raised beds for next year’s crop…..

The plan is to grow enough onions potatoes and garlic and tomatoes to last us the whole year…

I’m planning to process the tomatoes into tomato sauce and seal them in jars….

It’s been great fun experimenting and growing things from a seed and seeing the results….

I just can’t wait to put it on the plate and see what it takes like….

Is growing vegetables is similar to Internet marketing?

At the beginning of the year I knew absolutely nothing about growing vegetables…

I did my research…

Watched some YouTube videos….

Then planted a small test batch, I guess you could call this an alpha or beta program…

It looks like this is been very successful and I’ve also learnt a lot…

So next year I’m going to massively scale this up….

This is exactly what I do in business….

When I’m promoting a new product…

I promote it to a small number of people first….

Iron out all the bugs…

And then scale it up….

This is particularly important when paid traffic is involved….

Once I’m profitable, I scale everything up….

Hot Hot Hot!!

Wow it’s been really hot here the last few days in France…

It’s so wonderful to have some sunny weather…

I’m just glad I’m not stuck in the city at the moment….

The builder who was doing some work on our barn has had to stop work…

He has repaired one of the walls on the barn and has been coaching it in cement, this is called rendering…

But he had to stop work because it is too hot….

The render would crack in the heat…

It’s got so hot I had to plug an extra fan into my computer to stop it overheating!!

This weekend Dave and I are going to rearrange our log store…

We’ve been cutting wood up all summer in preparation for winter…

However the room inside the barn where we store the logs as a little bit messy..

To be honest this property is so huge there seems to always be something to do…

As an example that takes an entire day just to cut the lawn!!!

So we made it a rule that each weekend we will tackle one project…

It reminds me of a phrase that my good friend Christopher John Payne once told me…

How do you eat an elephant?

One bite at a time!

Have a great day whatever you’re doing…
