Mistakes not Talked About

Have you ever hit the wrong button and lost all your work?

Forgot to save a project??

Not had a backup…

Or simply tried something new and failed miserably?

It happens to all of us right?

Later in life failure can lead to massive self-doubt and even depression.

We forget how much we failed when we were children…

You know, doing simple things like learning to walk or ride a bike…

As an adult I fail at lots of things all of the time…

The first potatoes I planted in the garden turned out really small…

The first time I tried to make a home-made vegan hamburger it was a disaster…

I think it was about the seventh or eighth try at making a vegan hamburger before I was happy!!

If you haven’t succeeded yet it’s because you haven’t failed enough!

I remember one time I accidentally deleted 50,000 contacts from my email list!

Wow that was a costly mistake…

I contacted the auto responder company…

And they did manage to restore most of the contacts but it cost me over $1000!!

But I learnt a valuable lesson that day which I will never forget!

It’s very easy to look at successful people and believe they’ve always been successful..

As an affiliate marketer I’ve made loads of mistakes over the years..

But I haven’t let this hold me back…

What a difference having the right tools makes!

Over the last month I’ve been spending my weekends tiling one of our bathrooms next door.

Or rather should I say learning how to tile!

I’ve been watching training videos on YouTube…

It always looks really easy when you see a professional doing something…

This is turned out to be a rather difficult project…

The tiles I needed were only available from shop over 80 miles away!!

I think I worked out that it was almost 2 tons of tiles!!

And because of lockdown here in France deliveries aren’t really happening regularly from some shops..

So I transported them myself in my car..

It took several journeys…

At first I found the tiling incredibly difficult…

In large part because I chose large format tiles which are rather heavy…

And they were really difficult to cut…

The first tile cutter I purchased wore out after about 10 cuts!!

I made sure that the next tile cutter I purchased was top of the range!!

Wow what a difference having the right tools made…

This is the first of two bathrooms I need to tile next door..

And I’ve almost finished…

I’ve learnt loads of things along the way so hopefully the next bathroom I tile should take half the time!!

And oh yes, I made loads of mistakes along the way…

Which is why it’s taken me so long…

But I treated it as a learning experience….

Books I’ve been reading

While I’ve been tiling next door I’ve been listening to the audiobook Steve jobs by Walter Lsaacson.

I’m not an Apple person, I use a PC and have an android phone…

However I find the story of Steve jobs fascinating…

This is a really inspirational book and I haven’t even finished reading it yet…

One of the things I’ve learned so far is..

Keeping things simple, and not to overcomplicate things…

I’ve already started implementing some of the strategies in my business…

Simplifying what I do inside Infusionsoft for instance…

Anyway this is definitely a fascinating read even if you’re not an Apple person…

Have a great week whatever you’re doing,

Sarah
