The BBC?

Somehow I managed to travel from France to the UK with an expired passport…

In fact my passport had expired two months previously…

However this brought up a massive problem…

I’d only been planning to stay in the UK for three or four days…

Trying to travel back to France with an expired passport probably wasn’t a good idea.

In emergencies it’s possible to get a passport in the UK within one day…

I did this once before back in 1992…

You have to go to an office in central London and hang about in line for about six or seven hours…

Okay this is pretty boring but you can get it done within one day!

However because of coronavirus all fast track passport applications are not available…

I was told it could take several weeks…

I quickly got some photos taken and submitted my passport application as fast as I could…

I was expecting to have to stay in the UK for up to a month, or maybe longer…

However I was completely blown away when my new passport arrived only eight days after applying!!

Kind of strange really…

The media in the UK, particularly the BBC…

Have been making a big deal on the news that there is a massive backlog of passport applications…

The BBC stated that there were hundreds of thousands of people waiting for their passports!!

Well for some strange reason this didn’t seem to affect my application??

Being prepared…

I didn’t bring much luggage with me on my trip to the UK…

Hardly any clothes…

And a small laptop…

Okay so the clothes were quiet and easy problem to solve, I went shopping and bought some more…

Poor me!!!

But I did have my laptop…

Luckily I always keep all of my work files saved in the cloud, on Google Drive.

That way I can continue to work no matter what computer I’m using…

Since I love to travel, I’ve always have things set up so that I can continue to make an income even when I’m away from home…

I’ve also made sure I am never reliant on any particular computer or laptop…

Or hard drive for that matter….

You need to plan ahead and think of the worst case scenario…

I might be on the other side of the world travelling…

And all of my luggage including laptop have been stolen…

All I need to do is head to an electronic store…

Buy a $200 chromebook, or laptop and I’m back in business…

It’s always sensible to have a backup solution and not have all your eggs in one basket….

This is particularly important when it comes to Internet marketing…

Most marketers have a single point of failure…

What is it?

An email list..

Most marketers put all their efforts into trying to build an enormous email list…

And here’s the crazy thing…

The only bits of information they are collecting is email address and name…

  • What if somebody changes their email address?
  • What if your emails get marked as spam?
  • What if your emails never get seen?

This is why it’s really important to try and collect other bits of information rather than just name and email.

If you do this it’s possible to make over $100K per year from a list of less than 200 people!!

Summer in France

Wow it’s been really hot here the last few days in France…

The mercury has hit 37°C which is 97°F!!

The ground floor in this 400 year old farmhouse is lovely and cool…

In fact it’s like walking into an air-conditioned room when you come in from outside…

However the rooms upstairs are starting to get a little bit warmer!!

I actually had to go out to the store today to buy an electric fan for the first time!!

And my office got so unbearably hot that I’ve had to do my coaching calls in the kitchen!!

Have a great week whatever you’re doing,

And remember to stay cool 🙂
