Worst Salesman Ever

I kept my head down…

Tried not to make eye contact….

And kept walking…

Why?

I was walking through the lobby of a big home improvement store, B&Q….

And there was this guy trying to sell double glazing windows…

He decided to try and pitch me on his product…

Do you know what he said?

Windows!!

That was it!!

It wasn’t until I was outside in the car park that it struck me…

That has to be one of the worst sales pitches I’ve ever heard…

In fact I had to stop myself from going back in to have a word with the guy…

I kinda felt sorry for him because it was obvious he had no sales training…

What he should have been saying is…

Good morning would you be interested in saving 20% off your heating bills this winter…

In today’s climate of escalating oil and gas prices who is going to say no to that!

You see it’s leading with a benefit…

I see the same thing happening online with people trying to sell information products…

They go on and on about the features and don’t talk about the benefits…

You need to get inside the head of your prospect…

What’s keeping them up at night…

You need to complete this sentence in your head of your ideal prospect…

  • If only I could ___________
  • If only I could quit my day job
  • If only I had more time to spend with the kids
  • If only I had enough money and time to travel the world and do all those cool things I would like to do..

When you know this stuff selling becomes much easier…

The beach

Well I must say with the weather we’ve been having here in the UK I’m definitely missing the beaches of Thailand…

With this in mind I decided to watch the movie The Beach…

Wow it’s been just over 20 years since I last saw the film…

And I was actually in Thailand when they were making this movie back in 1999 I believe…

It was great fun watching this movie again especially since I’ve recently been to Thailand…

Definitely worth watching again if you haven’t seen the beach for a while..

This weekend I head back to France…

I’m looking forward to being back at home with Dave and my cats…

Have a great weekend whatever you’re doing,
