I lost all my data….

My hands were shaking…

I had a sick feeling in my stomach…

Oh my god…

I lost all my data….

Well over 30 terabytes!

And over a hundred hours of video footage…

How did this happen?

It was around 2007…

Back when I was still running my video production company…

We had a large storage box which housed multiple hard drives…

It also had redundant hard drives just in case something went wrong…

And you were supposed to be able to pull one drive out and insert a larger drive to get more storage space…

Back then 30 TB was a lot of data…

I could not afford to purchase a second load of hard drives to back it up…

And online backup was not even an option for that much storage…

I calculated it would have taken almost a year to back it up!!

I plugged the new hard drive in and and basically all the other drives became corrupted!

I lost all my data that day!!

Ever since then I’ve always kept multiple backups…

Fast forward to today…

And I’ve got well over 100 TB of data!!

As some of you may know I have a rather large movie collection…

A collection of over 1000 movies on DVD and Blu-ray…

I have transferred all of my collection to computer hard drive…

Plus I have huge amount of content I’ve produced as an Internet marketer…

And also courses and material which I downloaded over the years…

So that has left me with a ton of hard drives which I use for backup…

When I cleared out my office a couple of weeks back I realised I needed to do something with these bear hard drives..

I found on Amazon a really cool box for hard drives a bit like an old betamax / betacam tape box.

I’ve put all my hard drives in these boxes which should protect them and I can also stack them on a shelf easily…

I’m also planning on keeping these hard drive backups in our house next door…

Off-site backup, just in case something happens to our main house!

If anybody knows of a better way I can backup very large quantities of data please let me know…

Online backup is out of the question….

Content is king…

I wonder how many terabytes of data there are in the world right now?

But did you know that every day new public domain content becomes available…

Due to the Sonny Bono Copyright Act…

Massive amounts of content have now become part of the public domain….

Previously there has been no new copyright expired in content in 20 years.

Now, brand new works are entering the Public Domain each and every year.

This is a massive opportunity that’s now available for the first time in twenty years!

This content is free to use…

You can use it on your blog…

You can package the content up into an e-book and sell it…

You can make it into video content…

In fact there are loads of different ways in which you can make money from it….

What’s the best way to discover new public domain content?

Using a new software tool I’ve just discovered….

Click here to find out more 🙂

You get access to massive quantities of free content….

Simply with a few clicks of your mouse, all from the public domain.

The software creator Amy also shows you how to make money from this content…

This is definitely well worth a look…

The clocks recently changed…

It’s getting darker much earlier, and getting lighter much earlier…

Here in France I actually quite like this…

I really don’t like getting up when it’s dark…

However now it’s just starting to get light when I get up…

Also I’ve got my video projector setup in my living room…

Video projectors don’t like bright lights, I don’t have very good curtains in my living room…

So now movie night can now start at 7 PM instead of 8 PM!!!

Dave and I watched the recently restored Arrow video version of…

An American werewolf in London on the big screen on Halloween night!!

That’s the first time I’ve ever seen this movie on the big screen…

We were a bit worried that the cats would freak out with the sound of the werewolf, but they didn’t seem to mind at all?

Have a great week whatever you’re doing,

Sarah
