The Backup Plan

The sunlight was streaming through the curtains at 6:30 AM last Tuesday…

I decided to get up and run my bath…

Whilst my bath was running I opened the curtains to see a beautiful sunrise…

However I got a big shock when I put my leg into the bath…

The water was stone cold…

For some reason we had no hot water….

I settled for a cold shower that morning…

It turned out that our 20 year old water heater had finally given up the ghost…

To be honest I’m amazed it lasted this long…

It was in the house when we moved in back in 2007 and look old then!!

Now finding plumbers in France is not an easy task…

I only know of one guy who works in this area…

And he said he wouldn’t be able to do the job for two weeks…

And it was gonna cost €600 just for the Labour!!!

Now I know from previous experience this is only a two hour job!

Apart from anything else I did not want to wait two weeks!!

So I decided to do the job myself!!

How hard could it be?

First of all we went to the home improvement centre and picked out a water cylinder…

We went for one that was the most energy efficient that we could find…

There was a massive difference…

We paid about an extra €150 for an energy-efficient water heater…

And the electricity savings per year mounted up to about €160!!

Luckily we managed to get the water tank in the back of the Tesla…

On Saturday morning Dave and I removed the old water tank…

Wow it actually took more than an hour just to drain the water out of the old tank…

We connected everything up…

And then I had to turn the electricity off two wire the hot water heater into the fuse box…

This is where things got interesting…

As you can imagine we have quite a lot of computer equipment here in the house…

All of which is switched on 24 hours a day seven days a week…

And it’s never switched off!

We even have a battery backup system for the computers…

This keeps everything powered up for about an hour in case of any electricity outages…

But I decided to go round the house and power everything down…

This took about 20 minutes…

So with all the power switched off I hooked up the water tank okay and turned the power back on…

Everything is seem to work just fine…

That was until Dave tried to turn his computer back on…

It was completely dead…

The power supply in Dave’s computer had failed…

These things always seem to happen whenever we turn equipment off!!

And this is not the first time this has happened in the last 10 years!!

As a result I always keep a box of spare parts in the attic…

I managed to find two spare power supplies in the attic…

And we took Dave’s computer out of the rack and put it on the kitchen table…

One of the power supplies fitted perfectly and Dave’s computer sprung back into life…

I immediately went onto Amazon and ordered a brand-new power supply to put in the spare parts box..

It’s always important to have a backup…

That’s why I have multiple computers…

If I’m hosting an important sales webinar…

I have my main computer open…

And then I also have my laptop open using a different Internet connection…

If for whatever reason I have a problem with my main computer…

I can switch to my laptop…

Why do I do this?

Five years ago I was hosting a sales webinar…

I got five minutes into the webinar and I spilt a 1 pint glass of water all over my desk and my keyboard…

As you can imagine my keyboard and mouse no longer work…

And I had to stop the webinar…

Ever since then I’ve always had a backup computer…

Whenever I go on holiday I take my laptop…

But I also take a spare laptop, just in case…

It’s always important to have a backup plan…

And the same is true in business…

You shouldn’t have all your eggs in one basket…

You should have multiple sources of income…

How to make $100!

If I hadn’t learnt how to make that first $100…

It wouldn’t have been possible to make six figures in one day!

Once you know the process, and the system for making $100…

It becomes very easy to replicate that again and again…

I’ve made a video explaining how this process works.

Click here to find out more 🙂

This is how fortunes are made on the Internet…

Not by making $100….

But by knowing how to repeat the process…

In other words…

Repeatability….

This is the difference between a hobby and a full-time income…

Must go now as I’ve got to go to our local city to be tested before I’m allowed to travel back to the UK…

I’ll be back in the UK on Thursday…

But then I go into a 10 day quarantine!

Have a great week whatever you’re doing,
